Feedback on question about using iMeet and/or Web X instead of Elluminate for virtual meetings

Here is the story back from Lehigh's IT services: You can set up free free WebX sessions for a limited time, but if you want to use all of the features, last we looked, it's pretty expensive. I don't know anything about iMeet, but, again, I'm sure there will be a pretty hefty cost, unless one the other participating schools already has it -- or WebX -- and is willing to host the meetings. Elluminate is free and we can provide support. Elluminate was purchased by Blackboard a few months ago and we will be meeting with our rep tomorrow morning. I will ask if they have any immediate plans to allow more than 6 simultaneous speakers. I'll let you know what they say. Is the fact that when you have more that 6 people, you need to release the mike, that problematic? How many online meetings have you had? I remember that the first meeting was pretty confusing! Typically, the more you use a product, they easier it is to use. Rather than moving to a new system that you will need to pay for, it may be cheaper and easier to use Elluminate for the "video" part of the meetings and investigate one of the conference call options that Telecommunications offers: http://www.lehigh.edu/phones/adminconf.html In this manner, the participants simply need to use their phones and everyone can talk at one time! The upshot is: if anyone has full access to iMeet and/or WebX and would like to host next meeting, please provide name of technical contact at your university so that we can set it up together. Thanks!
